Church Notes For Oct. 6
The First United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Highways #54 and #281 in Pratt, Kansas welcomes you. We encourage you to check out our worship services and other special activities during the week of Saturday, October 8-Sunday, October 16, 2011.
Are you a golfer? We are pleased to announce our 2nd Annual, “Go 4 the Gold,” Golf Tournament slated for Saturday, October 8 at the Park Hills Country Club. It’s a 4 person scramble, $180 per team with carts extra. Great prizes and grilled hamburgers follow golf. To register your team, please contact Trent McAtee at 388-3553, Eugene Stotts at 388-5487 or Sheryl at 672-6473 as soon as possible. October is our “Go 4 the Gold” month. Besides our golf tournament we will host other special events. Our Every Member in Ministry Brunch (October 9 & 16 at 10:40 am) for new folks in our church alongside our Every Member in Ministry (EMIM) campaign will work to include all participants in our congregation into the life and ministries of our church body. EMIM packets will be passed out on Sunday, October 9 and gathered on Sunday, October 23.
Sunday, October 9 is the seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost. The Early, Informal Worship Service begins at 8:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Sunday School classes meet from 9:05-9:55 a.m. except for the 50/50 Class that meets from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The Contemporary Worship Service begins at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with the Praise Band/Worship Team leading worship. Dorotha Giannangelo will be our Liturgist in the Traditional Service. The Traditional Worship Service starts at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Jane Biles will be playing Refiner’s Fire w/ Take Time To Be Holy (Mark Hayes).for the offertory in the early service and Autumn Song (Donald Callendar). in the traditional service. The Chancel Choir will sing, Let All the World in Every Sing (McCutcheon), for the Introit. The Scriptures for today’s message include I Peter 4:8-11 and Mark 9:33-37. Rev. Dan Ferguson will be preaching the sermon “The Greatest Serve” in all three services, Sunday. Our Monday activities include the Quilters who meet in the basement at 9:30 a.m. The Faithfully Fit Forever Exercise team meets regularly on Mondays and Fridays at 10:00 am and Wednesdays at 1:30 pm during the summer. The Ladies Bible Study group meets at 7 am on Wednesdays.
Fall ministry activities are in full swing! Join us next Wednesday, October 5 with Snack Supper beginning at 5:00 p.m. God Rocks begins at 5:45 p.m. This exciting new children’s ministry is for kids ages 3-4th grade includes upbeat music, Bible stories, memory Scriptures, crafts, and games- all age appropriate. We have Jr. Hi Youth 5th-8th grades at 6:00 p.m. and Sr. High, 9-12th grade at 7:00 p.m. in the youth room upstairs. We will have Home Builders geared for married couples and a men’s small group Bible study at 6:00 pm. Please join us for great fellowship and opportunities for community and spiritual growth. Wednesday, October 12, the Trustees will meet at 7 pm in the Heritage Room..
Looking ahead: Wednesday, October 26 is our 6th Annual “All Saints Costume Contest.” It starts during Snack Supper at 5 pm. This is for young and old alike. Come out for a very fun evening. Next month, we will have a “Go 4 the Gold” community celebration on Sunday, Nov. 6 with a meal and fun festivities for the entire family! Hope you have a great week! Come join us on Sunday!
