Come & join us at the First United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Highways #54 and #281 in Pratt, Kansas. We extend a special invitation for you to join us for worship and other special activities in the church. Following is a schedule for the week Saturday, February 27- Friday, March 5.
Saturday, February 27 is Angel Food Distribution between 10-11 a.m. in the church parking lot. Pitch begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a snack and a friend. February 28 is the second Sunday of Lent. The Early, Informal Worship Service begins at 8:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall; the Contemporary Worship Service begins at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with the Praise Band/Worship Team leading worship; and the Traditional Worship Service starts at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Sunday School classes meet from 9:05-9:55 a.m. except for the 50/50 Class that meets from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Pastor Dan Ferguson will be preaching a message entitled, “Finish the Race” in all three worship services. The Scripture passages will Psalm 103:23-28 and Hebrews 12:1-13. Jane Biles will be playing the offertory, “Fairest Lord Jesus” (arr. Phillip Keveren) in the early service and the traditional service. The chancel choir will be singing the introit “Choose This Day” (John Horman) and the anthem, “Walkworthy” (Joseph Martin). Judy Rittgers will serve as the liturgist in the traditional service. Dorotha Giannangelo will be sharing a mission moment with us.
The Quilters generally meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday and Wednesday mornings the Quilters meet in the Quilters Room in the basement. The Ladies Bible Study meets each Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. in the conference room. The Faithfully Fit Forever Exercise team will meet on Monday and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, the Lenten Lunch will be hosted by a group of folks from various churches. The United Methodist Church ladies will serve chicken casseroles, Jewel Williamson, the pastor of the Free Methodist Church will be sharing in special music, and Karen Lemons, the pastor of the Episcopal Church will be preaching our homily.
Tuesday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m. Christian Education is hosting a brainstorming session on how we can serve and support our Special Needs children and their families within our community. Phil Lunt will be our special speaker. This meeting is open to all and will be in the conference room.
Wednesday, Snack Supper begins at 5:15 p.m. The Come As You Are Class will serve a great meal of delicious, homemade casseroles! Our adult classes include Financial Peace University, a Dave Ramsey video series; the Connections class is moving forward with a line-up of Christian movies; Chancel Choir practices each Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. in the Sanctuary under the leadership of Bob Bitter. Our children ministries are age-appropriate, Bible-based stories using Veggie Tales as our media base and filled with fun activities and lots of love: Pre-Veggies (3-5 yrs.), Pri-Veggies (K-2nd grades), and Grapple (3rd -5th grades) . Youth ministries include Jr. High (6-7 p.m.) and Sr. High Youth (7-8 p.m.).. The Offer them Christ Puppets will meet from 4:15-5:15 p.m. in the puppet room. Our Outreach Committee meets at 5:00 p.m. in the conference room.
Thursday, March 4 is the Mother Daughter Friend Banquet at 6:30 p.m. The United Methodist Men will be serving a delicious banquet meal for our ladies. Please reserve a spot by Monday, March 1st if you plan to attend. Friday, March 5, Mom’s Day Out meets from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the 3 year old nursery in the basement. Their leaders are Glenda Sibley and George Fowler.
