Church Notes For Mar. 5

Come & join us at the First United Methodist Church, located at the intersection of Highways #54 and #281 in Pratt, Kansas. We extend a special invitation for you to join us for worship and other special activities in the church. Following is a schedule for the week Sunday March 7- Friday, March 12.

 

 

Sunday, March 7 is the third Sunday of Lent. The Early, Informal Worship Service begins at 8:15 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall; the Contemporary Worship Service begins at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with the Praise Band/Worship Team leading worship; and the Traditional Worship Service starts at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary. Sunday School classes meet from 9:05-9:55 a.m. except for the 50/50 Class that meets from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Pastor Dan Ferguson will be preaching a message entitled, “Keep the Faith” in all three worship services. The Scripture passages will Isaiah 38:9-21 and II Corinthians 11:21b-31. Jane Biles will be playing the offertory “I Love to Tell the Story” (arr. Phillip Keveren) in the early service and “The Soul that Thirsts for God” (Paul Taylor) in the traditional service. The chancel choir will be singing the introit “Choose This Day” (John Horman) and the anthem, “Still” (Reuben Morgan). Phil Lunt will serve as the liturgist in the traditional service. The noon fellowship dinner will follow the traditional service and the Ground Breakers are in charge. All are welcome.

 

 

 

The Quilters generally meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday and Wednesday mornings the Quilters meet in the Quilters Room in the basement. The Ladies Bible Study meets each Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. in the conference room. The Faithfully Fit Forever Exercise team will meet on Monday and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 8, the Endowment Committee will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, the Lenten Lunch and service will be hosted by the Christian Church and Rev. Robin Colerick.

 

 

 

Wednesday, Snack Supper begins at 5:15 p.m. The Deborah Guild will serve a great meal of delicious, homemade soups! Our adult classes include Financial Peace University, a Dave Ramsey video series; Chancel Choir practices each Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. in the Sanctuary under the leadership of Bob Bitter. Our children ministries are age-appropriate, Bible-based stories using Veggie Tales as our media base and filled with fun activities and lots of love: Pre-Veggies (3-5 yrs.), Pri-Veggies (K-2nd grades), and Grapple (3rd -5th grades) . Youth ministries include Jr. High (6-7 p.m.) and Sr. High Youth (7-8 p.m.).. The Offer them Christ Puppets will meet from 4:15-5:15 p.m. in the puppet room. Our Finance Committee meets at 7:00 p.m. and the Board of Trustees meets at 8:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room. Thursday evening is contemporary worship planning (6:15 p.m.) and practice (7:00 p.m.)

 

 

 

Friday, March 12, Mom’s Day Out meets from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the 3 year old nursery in the basement. Their leaders are Glenda Sibley and George Fowler.
